Yoyogi Hachimangu

We Japanese pray and thank to God about health, career, love and more.

They locate near Harajuku which is middle of Tokyo. However this Yoyogi Hachimangu(代々木八幡宮) is so solemn and good atmosphere. They are famous but not so crowded. Many TV show broadcast about them.

Going up the stairs, and we feel fresh air. I often visit shrine not only wish our health also feel nature and refresh.

At shrins and temples, we need to wash our hand and mouth before visiting the main building. If you visit shrine or temple in Japan, you will realize this place because there are many people around this Temizusya(手水舎).

Finaly we are ready to visit main shrine. There is route, so you do not need to worry about it.

There is bell to call God. We ring it, bow, clap and wish. Do not forget making a bow before leaving.

This is Ema which we write our wish. What is Ema? Most shrine have only one type, but they have several type of picture. We write our wish and name to give it God.

Do you know Omikuji? That is words from God.  There are some prediction and advice about work, love, money, house, and more from God. After opened and read, we tie the omikuji on tree. (It depends on the shrins or temples) They might space for it. If you got good prediction from God, you do not need to tie it. You can bring it back to home.

≪Phrase at shrine≫

「Where can I tie omikuji?」
⇒「Omikuji ha doko ni musubi masuka?」(おみくじはどこに結びますか)

doko:where
musubu:tie

≪HOW TO GET THERE≫

go go go there:)
